Acrylic or Acrygel – what's the difference?
Classic acrylic powder is mixed with a liquid (monomer) to form a malleable bead and air-dries – in contrast to Acrygel, which cures under UV/LED light. Acrylic is often considered by professionals to be the most stable sculpting technique available and is frequently used in competitions. You can find more about the direct comparison in our blog article Acrygel vs. Acrylic Powder: The Difference (coming soon).
Who is Acrylic Powder suitable for?
Acrylic Powder is suitable for nail designers with sculpting experience who have already mastered the technique or wish to learn it specifically. For beginners, we recommend our Acrylic Basic Course, in which Anela Mucic teaches the professional handling of acrylic powder and liquid from scratch.
Anela's Pro Tip
"For me, acrylic remains the supreme discipline – especially in competitions, you can immediately see the difference in stability compared to gel. The correct bead size is important: if it's too dry, the powder is difficult to work with; if it's too wet, the application loses control. The right ratio comes with practice." – Anela Mucic, Nail Design World Champion 2023 & INJA Juror
Frequently Asked Questions
Which liquid goes with the Acrylic Powder?
A common acrylic liquid with a medium curing time works best in combination with our powder.
Is Acrylic Powder also suitable for beginners?
Acrylic requires a bit more practice than gel systems. For beginners, we recommend our Acrylic Basic Course, after which the powder is also easy to work with for less experienced users.
How does Cover Pink differ from the other colors?
Cover Pink is opaque and is particularly suitable for camouflaging discolorations and visually extending the nail bed, while Clear and Extreme White are primarily used for classic extensions and French.
