What lies behind them is less visible: competitions are one of the most important driving forces for the development of our entire industry. In this article, we open a new series about competition preparation – and start with the fundamental question: Why do they even exist, and why is participation worthwhile?

Why are nail competitions held in the first place?

An international competition is more than a stage for the best – it fulfills several important functions for the entire industry:

• Setting standards: Competitions define what technical excellence currently means – symmetry, structure, surface quality. These standards flow back into training and raise the level of the entire industry.

Your entry into competition level: the Sergey Lavrukhin Masterclass

From November 27th to December 1st, 2026, Sergey Lavrukhin – internationally known as the "God of Stiletto" – will be our guest at our studio in Baden-Baden. Especially Days 4+5 ("Competition French") are specifically geared towards competition level and are an ideal first step if you want to approach genuine competition work – more details directly on the course page of the Masterclass.

The next big chapter: Global Nail Masters 2027

In May 2027, the Global Nail Masters will take place in the E210 Eventhangar in Baden-Baden – an international nail art championship with 17 competition categories, live on-site and as a submission competition. The organizer is Anela Mucic in conjunction with the INJA (International Nail Judge Association), supported by an international jury of INJA-certified judges.
